Football Far North Coast For a player who only took up football two years ago, Savannah has come a long way. Having played rugby in Sydney, when her family moved North she switched codes and put her ball handling skills to good use. In the FFNC 12 girls representative team she was identified by selectors for her talent and went on to be selected as the goalkeeper in the NNSW state team. Competing at the national championships in Canberra last month she did her club, zone and family proud. Although only 13, Savannah now plays in the FFNC grade 14 1st division mixed comp for Byron Bay FC as well as the FFNC 14 girls rep team competing in the Queensland state youth league. Congratulations Savannah from the Newcastle Permanent Building Society and Northern NSW Football!

Football Far North Coast The �Dunoon Dynamites� Under 7�s team are a happy and motivated bunch! The team is made up of new players and players from last season�s competition. Despite the wet weather, the team has managed to get in several training sessions (even training during the school holidays!). They have worked hard and have "gelled" well as a team. During their first game, the boys and girls showed excellent sportsmanship and an enthusiasm that is truly inspiring. They cheered the other team's goals and used team work to score their own goals. The team always support each other and have a good sense of sportsmanship. Congratulations Dynamites from the Newcastle Permanent Building Society and Northern NSW Football!

NIF U12 Girls Development Squad - Grafton Trip

Development Squad � 12�s Girls �Diamonds� On Sunday 29^th April 2012 the under 12�s Development Squad travelled to wet Grafton for their first round in the development weekends. In their first game the girls came up against a strong North Coast side with the game ending in a 1 all draw. The girls held possession for long periods of time which showed having 17 shots on goal however only half were on target with the goal from North Coast coming against the run of play and only allowing their opponents 5 shots on goal for the entire game. The girls played a good attacking style of football and showed patience with the ball and after falling behind in the score line hit back immediately with a very good goal from Gosha Heldtz. In their second game the girls played Mid North Coast Predators and came away with a 8 nil victory. Again the girls held possession for long periods of time and passed the ball around well to create good attacking options with 16 shots on goal which was a much improved effort from their first game. Due to their time in possession the girls were up 4 nil at half time. When the game resumed the girls attacked and kept pressure on their opponents which showed with the end score line. Goals coming from Gosha Heldtz our number 9 with 5, Madison Sharp with 1, Breanna Emery with one and an unfortunate own goal after another good shot on target. Diamonds coach Steve Sharp was proud and pleased with the way the girls not only played but conducted themselves during the course of the day as they represented Northern Inland Football in a fun and professional manner on which they should be congratulated on They showed me that they have been listening at training and they played a really good style of football and were making the right choices when passing, they were taking their shots and they kept their structure for most of the game and one of the pleasing aspects is that they held the ball (possession) well during both games which showed and they were constantly looking to go forward and score goals. They played the style of football that we have asked them to and to have taken on board everything that we have done in training and to show us yesterday that they can apply it in the game well I can�t ask for more The girls are coached by Steve Sharp who is assisted by Mat Endemi and Manager Rosi Bishop and are looking forward to the girls second round in Tamworth on the 27th May.

Rebel Cup Tournament in Newcastle

The Northern Inland Football U13�s Boys travelled to Newcastle recently to compete in the inaugural Rebel Sports Cup. The tournament was contested over four days during the school holidays and saw teams from all over the NNSWF zones. The Inland side was coached by Brett Campbell and managed by Geoff McCann, both of whom did a fantastic job. It was a valuable learning experience at this level of competition for the both of them. Northern Inland Football manager Howard Stubbs was in attendance for all games and admitted that, �the Inland side never got a stranglehold on any of the games really, which was disappointing�. � All over the pitch we were second best really...I think our performances were very mixed. There were some good patches in games where we created some chances, but overall we didn�t pass the ball well or keep possession when we could". � I was pleased with the lads spirit throughout and the way they kept going, they tried hard, but with only one training session pre-tournament it was always going to be a battle�. 2012 State Youth League Kicks Off

Round 1 of the State Youth League Country competition saw our Southern squads travel to Taree and our Northern squads to Port Macquarie on the weekend. Both the Northern and Southern U14/15 boys played in Armidale at Doody Park.

In Taree, a dominant performance by the U12 boys south saw them win 4-0 against FMNC Jaguars. The U13 boys south recovered from a 5-0 half time deficit to finish up 7-2 (a much better 2nd half performance). The U16 girls south did extremely well to only go down 3-2 after being reduced to 10 players after a red card.

In Port Macquarie, The U12 boys north went down 3-1 to FMNC Predators while the U13 boys north suffered a 6-0 defeat at the hands of a very well drilled FMNC side. The U16 Girls north Side (pictured) came away from Pt Macquarie victorious after a 2-1 win.

In Armidale, the U14/15 Boys south went down 3-1 in the first match of the day but showed plenty of promise in being able to create scoring opportunites. The U14/15 boys north side breathed a sigh of relief after leading FMNC Jets 5-1 but eventually winning by a single goal 5-4.

This Sunday's matches see our Northern squads travel to Tamworth to take on the Southern Squads at the Gipps Street fields.

Tamworth�s Brad Mackenzie Ready for the Apple Isle

The inaugural Trans Tasman tournament was held in Newcastle in 2011 and was initiated to provide the NNSWIS side the opportunity to compete against other institutes and players to measure their continual improvement. Previously, the annual FFA Institute Challenge held in December provided the only opportunity for such sides to measure their performances against like sides. Head Coach Wayne O�Sullivan said the idea was suggested by himself and fellow coaches in an effort to offer an occasion for the teams involved to come together for a tournament which was not result driven but instead tactically driven and this notion was approved by FFA National Technical Director, Han Berger. �It gives us a vehicle to measure the best against the best and gives the national coaches the chance to see the boys play against each other,� said O�Sullivan. �In addition, our coaching is in line with the National Curriculum and there is little opportunity for the boys to play against different styles and tactics, so this gives us a chance for the players to measure themselves against others technically, tactically and physically,� concluded O�Sullivan. Recently appointed Qantas Joeys Head Coach, Alistair Edwards will be casting a watchful eye over the tournament, ensuring that all participating sides perform at their best. The tournament commences today, Thursday 23rd February until Sunday 26th February, where the NNSWIS side will come up against teams including Football Skool (Victoria), Kaizan Academy (New Zealand), and Tasmanian sides from South Hobart and the Tasmanian Institute of Sport. Tamworth FREE Junior Licence Course Postponed

Unfortunately, due to lack of numbers the Free Junior

Licence Course scheduled for this weekend will need

to be postponed. The course needs a minimum of 12

participants to enable the instructing coach, & yourselves,

to effectively demonstrate coaching sessions.

I will advise a date when the course is rescheduled.
